Youtube won’t block our artists…
WHATS GOING ON
So wait, what’s going on? YouTube is blocking independent artist?!?! Just in case you’ve been living under a rock, YouTube, is preparing to change the site adding a subscription service called Music Pass. This service is their way of competing with other music streaming services like Pandora, Spotify, and Beats Music, to name a few. In order to do this, Youtube must sign new licensing agreements with the labels involved. Apparently, not only are smaller, indie labels not being offered the same deals as the majors, but the contracts that Google is putting in front of them aren’t the same either.
Financial Times, Vice President and Global Head of Business at YouTube Robert Kyncl stated that video content from indie labels will be blocked “in a matter of days” should the labels not agree to YouTube’s terms.”
HOW IT EFFECTS YOU
Seems like unless you’re signed to a major label, there is a possibility that your video will be removed from their site. However, there is a loop hole! We love loopholes! VEVO, is linked with YouTube, so all of your video content you currently have will be searchable through YouTube! This is awesome news!!!
